The minutes of the last ordinary meeting of the Vestry held on March, 30, 1926, were read and confirmed.
It was resolved that the Secretary again write Mr Sandford re getting him to report on the organ.
In the matter of the Fernridge Assessment, held over from the previous meeting of the Vestry, it was resolved that no action be taken.
The Vicar reported certain matters concerning the donor of the communion vessels for the Fernridge Church, etc. It was resolved that the Vestry felt they had nothing before them and that it would be far better if the gentleman concerned would put into writing any suggestions or grievances he may have concerning the Fernridge Church and the Vestry would deal with them when they came before them.
Mr Penistone was requested to inform the donor of the communion vessels accordingly.
In connection with the alterations to the Vicarage study fire place authorised by the Vestry, the Vicar reported the suggestioed alterations had not been strictly adhered to, and that work had been done in excess to the amount of about £2.
Mr Green moved and Mr Morton seconded that the action of the committee in exceeding the estimate by the above amount be confirmed. Carried.
Mr Hyde moved and Mr Green seconded that the Girl Guides be allowed the use of the ground at the back of the Parish Hall for the purpose of playing basket ball during the Vestry's pleasure.
The Vicar reported he had received an application from the Technical School management for the use of the Basket Ball Ground for students to play on.
Mr Green moved and Mr Briden seconded that the Technical School be allowed the use of the Grounds for basket ball up to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the basket ball season and on Saturdays by arrangement with the Girl Guides for the sum of £10 for the season and that such sum be handed to the Girl Guides' fund. Carried.
The Vicar reported a gift of 1 table and 1 dinner wagon to the Vicarage.
The Vicar moved and Mr Smith seconded that a letter be sent Mr Spiers thanking him for his kindness in painting the Church doors. Carried.
It was resolved that Mr Buckton be asked to act as the Vestry's representative on the Boy Scouts' movement.
The Vicar moved and Mr Smith seconded that the following be appointed a Hall Committee: Messrs Hyde, Dunderdale, McCartney and Green. Carried.
The statement of receipts and expenditure as appearing on page 725 was adopted and accounts appearing thereon passed for payment.
Mr Briden moved and Mr Smith seconded that the costs in connection with the Parish Car be borne by the Vestry. Carried.
Mr Denbee moved that a Finance Committee be set up , such committee to be The Churchwardens and Mr Sydney Smith. Seconded by Mr Hyde and carried.
With a view to getting the finances of the Church placed on a more satisfactory footing it was resolved to affirm the principal of appointing a Canvass Secretary on a commission basis.
The Finance Committee to meet and bring down a report at the next meeting of the Vestry.
Mr Maunsell moved and Mr Green seconded That the Vicar be authorised to get anyone he thinks fit to attend the next Vestry meeting with a view to appointing him Canvass Secretary for the Parish.
Messrs Morton and McCartney were appointed to take up the offertories for June.
The meeting closed with the Grace.
